
Commonwealth Short Story Prize 2024 – open for submissions

The Commonwealth Short Story Prize is now open for entries!
Writers from across the Commonwealth can now submit their stories for a chance to win the £5,000 prize. It is open to citizens of all 56 Commonwealth countries aged 18 and over. To be in contention, you need to submit a 2–5000 word story before 1 November 2023.
The prize is free to enter and open to everyone regardless of previous writing experience. They accept stories submitted in 13 different languages or those translated into English from any language.

The global literary world will be watching next year when we announce the shortlist, regional winners and, finally, the overall winner for 2024.
Success in the prize provides a springboard for literary careers. Kritika Pandey secured agent representation after winning the prize in 2020 and is now working on her debut novel.
The prize also offers the opportunity for shortlisted and regional-winning writers to publish their work in online magazines and gain widespread media attention.
