International Women’s Day: How we made it – the telling of Australian women’s stories

March 1 @ 6:00 am - 8:00 pm

In celebration of International Women’s Day on 8 March, The Britain-Australia Society and the Australian High Commission present their inaugural IWD event: How we made it – the telling of Australian women’s stories. What is it like to forge an exceptional career on the other side of the world? How does it happen? What is the journey?

Join the select panel of prominent Australian women discussing their journeys from arriving in the UK to becoming leaders in their (very different) fields:

Leanne Benjamin AM OBE – principal ballet dancer, author, teacher and public speaker
Karen Hopkins – CMO and Global Brand, Marketing and Communications Leader, EY
Karyl Nairn KC – international lawyer and arbitrator
Elizabeth Varley – CEO and founder of TechHub

The event will showcase a selection of Australian Indigenous women’s artwork that tells the most ancient of Australian women’s stories. Curated by Jasmine Coe, the first Australian Indigenous gallerist in the UK (Coe Gallery, Bristol).

The Britain-Australia Society promotes and maintains the rich relationship between Australia and the UK by celebrating their shared history and furthering their longstanding cultural, educational, sporting and inter-governmental links. Lord Hague of Richmond is their President.
