Everyone’s favourite childhood book character is making a welcome return to the screen, with a new film version of Matilda the Musical set to land in cinemas and on Netflix this year.
Roald Dahl’s Matilda was previously adapted for the big screen in 1996, with Pam Ferris playing Miss Trunchbull and Mara Wilson starring as the titular character.
The new movie will be the first cinematic version of the hit stage show that has been running in the West End since 2011, with brilliant music by Tim Minchin.
The new film version, which is released in UK cinemas in November, stars Emma Thompson as Miss Trunchbull, Alisha Weir as the iconic titular character, while James Bond star Lashana Lynch portrays the sweet-natured teacher Miss Honey.
It will then be released on Netflix in December.
