Orion Orchestra and Strand Consort perform in world première

November 18, 2021 @ 7:30 pm

Conducted by Gary Matthewman, this concert brings together two of London’s most dynamic ensembles for young musicians: the Orion Orchestra and the Strand Consort (drawn from alumni of the Choir of King’s College, London), as well as a stellar line-up of soloists including New Zealand baritone Julien Van Mellaerts.

The new 2021 programme explores the rich sound-world of orchestral ensemble without violins, and includes two well-known and much-loved works: Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem and the Brandenburg Concerto No.6 by JS Bach.

It will also stage the world première of a specially commissioned choral work with solo soprano, conceived as a companion work to the Fauré: Simon Rowland-Jones’s setting of a text from Walt Whitman’s Song of Myself.

November 18, 7.30pm.

Tickets can be booked here.
