REJECTS: London exhibition showcases New Zealand talent

Some of the biggest names in the art world were rejects once – and now London gallery Art Friend is showcasing the best of a new gen of rejects.

REJECTS is the Alternative Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, where the best artworks from the 13,000 rejected pieces will be showcased at a gallery hidden in the heart of Bermondsey next to White Cube.

London-based New Zealand abstract artist Luana Asiata was one of the highly talented creatives who submitted their work for consideration by the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, but were not selected for display.

In the words of Art Friend: “It’s not for us to challenge the decision of the panel… instead you should come and see for yourself if these artists should have made the cut, and if you can find an artist as talented as previous rejects such as Banksy, Édouard Manet and Rebecca Salter. The difference? You can probably still afford this art.”
