Filipe Manu performs at the Samling Institute 25th Anniversary Showcase
November 7, 2021

Described as one of the most exciting young talents to graduate from the world-renowned Jette Parker Young Artist programme at the Royal Opera House, New Zealand-Tongan tenor, Filipe Manu, will now take to the stage at Wigmore Hall in London.
Though not his first live performance at the international home of chamber music, it will be his first singing Man, Woman, Child – a new duet cycle by Jonathan Dove, commissioned by the Samling Institute for Young Artists to mark its 25th anniversary. Accompanying him is soprano Alexandra Lowe and James Baillieu on piano.
They are joined by Kitty Whately, William Thomas and Ian Tindale to perform works including Vaughan Williams’s Four Last Songs, Richard Rodney Bennett’s Songs Before Sleep, settings of Thomas Hardy by Gerald Finzi, Benjamin Britten folksong arrangements and songs by Roger Quilter, Elizabeth Maconchy, Margaret Bonds, Eric Coates and Ivor Novello.
Filipe is the recipient of the New Zealand performer of the year award and winner of Australia’s most prestigious singing competition, the IFAC Handa Singing Competition.
Sunday 7 November.
