The Drover’s Wife: exclusive film preview on International Women’s Day
March 8, 2022 @ 7:00 pm

If you missed it at the Barbican in February, there’s another chance to catch this brilliant film when it’s screened by the London Australian Film Society to mark International Women’s Day.
The preview screening of Leah Purcell’s gripping feminist revenge western, The Drover’s Wife: The Legend of Molly Johnson, will be held at Regent Street Cinema, London.
Expect a range of Australian treats to complement the night – including Aussie lollies, snacks, treats and even a raffle, so remember to bring along your spare change (and/or your contactless cards) – every sale will go a long way to helping them put on future events and – with any luck – a full festival this summer!
About the film:
In 1893, heavily pregnant Molly Johnson (Leah Purcell) and her children struggle to survive the harsh Australian landscape after her husband leaves to drove sheep in the high country. One day, she finds an escaped Aboriginal convict (Rob Collins) wounded on her property and an unlikely bond begins to form between them. Meanwhile, new lawman Nate Clintoff (Sam Reid) realises that Molly’s husband is missing and sends his constable to investigate, triggering a fateful turn of events.
