Our Fragile Space, a powerful outdoor photography exhibition by Australian photographer Max Alexander, is on display in central London this spring at the Royal Astronomical Society.
The exhibition brings together striking large-scale images that reveal the hidden reality of Earth’s orbital environment - from satellite trails streaking across the night sky to the infrastructure and people working to better understand and protect it. Blending artistic photography with scientific storytelling, Alexander makes a complex and often invisible issue both immediate and visually compelling.
Focusing on the growing challenge of space debris, the project explores near-Earth orbit as a “fourth domain” of environmental concern. It also speaks to the wider global conversation around the rapid expansion of satellite networks and the need to safeguard the night sky as a shared human resource.
Previously shown at major international venues including the United Nations and the European Parliament, Our Fragile Space has become a globally recognised project, using visual storytelling to raise awareness and encourage dialogue around space sustainability.
