As part of the Chipping Campden Music Festival, New Zealand–born, London-based violinist Benjamin Baker - acclaimed for his “utterly meaningful” and “out-of-body” playing (The Arts Desk) - takes on one of the great feats of classical music: performing the complete Bach Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin in a single evening.
These six works sit at the heart of the violin repertoire. Heard together, they form a profound musical journey, from the architecture of the sonatas to the emotional power of the partitas, culminating in the monumental Chaconne. Baker describes taking on the full cycle as a journey for both performer and audience - a rare immersion in Bach’s craft and imagination.
