Connor Delves brings CADEL: Lungs On Legs to Riverside Studios

  • Riverside Studios 101 Queen Caroline Street London, England, W6 9BN United Kingdom (map)

Australian-born actor Connor Delves brings the remarkable story of Tour de France winner Cadel Evans to the London stage this autumn in CADEL: Lungs On Legs, running at Riverside Studios from 13 October to 15 November.

Created and performed by Delves, the one-man play follows Evans’ extraordinary journey to become the first Australian to win the Tour de France. Delves spends the entire performance riding a bicycle on stage, pedalling through the triumphs, setbacks, sacrifices and physical demands surrounding Evans’ historic 2011 victory.

Written by Delves and Steve McMahon and directed by Mark Barford, CADEL: Lungs On Legs brings together theatre and elite sport in an unusually physical piece of storytelling. The production has previously played seasons in Australia and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where it received a series of awards and five-star reviews.

Cadel Evans himself has been involved with the production, with Delves riding a BMC bike and drawing closely on the world of professional cycling as he developed the show.

Delves, who is based in New York, is an actor, producer and director whose work has spanned Australia, the UK and US. He is also a founding Co-Artistic and Executive Director of the Australian Theatre Festival NYC.

The London season is presented by Seabright Live and Cadel the Play LLC in association with Anant Das.
