New Zealand author Tina Makereti UK events

Acclaimed Māori author Tina Makereti will be in the UK this June for a series of events around the paperback release of her novel The Mires.

Makereti’s work explores themes of place, identity and displacement, weaving together histories of British colonialism with contemporary concerns including climate change and migration. Her novels often move across time and geography, connecting Aotearoa with wider global narratives, and placing Indigenous perspectives at the centre of these stories.

Her UK appearances will include festival events and an intimate London literary salon, offering audiences the chance to hear readings from her work and join discussions on Indigenous literature, history and storytelling.
