Australian author Michelle de Kretser has been awarded the 2025 Stella Prize for her bold and inventive novel Theory & Practice. The announcement made on Friday 23 May positions de Kretser as one of the most celebrated literary voices in Australia today.

The Stella Prize for Australian women and non-binary writers worth $50,000, has just announced its shortlist for 2022 - with the inclusion, for the first time ever, of poetry. Experimental in genre and form, these bold and compelling new works – half of them by debut authors – are in the running for the tenth annual prize.
