Actor and FANZA arts patron Sam Neill will star opposite Annette Bening (American Beauty, The Kids Are All Right) in the highly anticipated new drama, Apples Never Fall.
Based on Liane Moriarty’s bestselling novel of the same name, the story follows the seemingly perfect couple, Joy and Stan Delaney (Bening and Neill), who are former tennis coaches with four adult children.
Australian author Moriarty’s novels Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers have both previously been adapted for television to great acclaim. The new series will be filmed in Australia’s Gold Coast.
A short description of Apples Never Fall: “After decades of marriage, they have finally sold their famed tennis academy and are ready to start what should be the golden years of their lives. But after Joy disappears, her children are forced to re-examine their parents’ marriage and their family history with fresh eyes.”
New Zealand-born Neill’s previous TV roles include Thomas Wolsey on The Tudors and Chester Campbell on Peaky Blinders.
His memoir, Did I Ever Tell You This?, will be published in the UK this spring.
