New Zealand-born, London-based artist Arjuna Oakes brings his soulful, jazz-inflected songwriting to Dalston Eastern Curve Garden this July as part of Woodburner’s summer series.
A singer, songwriter, pianist, composer and producer, Oakes has built a reputation for richly layered, genre-defying music that moves between soul, jazz, neo-psychedelia, folk and cinematic composition. Since his 2019 debut EP The Watcher, he has released a series of acclaimed projects, including collaborations with Serebii and Greek-Kiwi composer John Psathas.
His debut album While I’m Distracted, released in 2025, marked a major step in his evolving sound, bringing together expansive arrangements, emotional songwriting and a wide-ranging musical palette.
For this outdoor London show, Oakes performs in the atmospheric surroundings of Dalston Eastern Curve Garden, a much-loved green space in the heart of Dalston and home to Woodburner’s intimate live music nights.
The evening also features London-based harpist and contemporary jazz composer Rachel Kitchlew, whose work blends harp with jazz, ambient and experimental textures.
