Set within the intimate surroundings of The King’s Chapel of the Savoy, the Australia House Ensemble presents Confluence, a distinctive evening of chamber music inspired by the meeting of Australia’s Murray and Darling rivers.
Bringing together themes of gathering, crossing and connection, the concert features a rich programme for strings with double bass at its heart, performed by an ensemble of leading Australian and international musicians.
Guest violinist Emily Sun joins Naoko Keatley (violin), Morgan Goff (viola), Thomas Rann (cello) and Hugh Kluger (double bass) for an evening spanning lyrical intimacy, virtuosity and musical dialogue.
The programme includes works by Ernő Dohnányi, Gioachino Rossini, Edgar Meyer, Zoltán Kodály and Antonín Dvořák, alongside spirited quintet arrangements of Percy Grainger favourites Molly on the Shore and Handel in the Strand.
Programme highlights include:
Dohnányi’s String Trio for Violin, Viola and Cello
Rossini’s Duo for Cello and Double Bass
Meyer’s Concerto for Violin and Double Bass
Kodály’s Duo for Violin and Cello
Dvořák’s String Quintet in G Major (Second Movement, with double bass)
Percy Grainger’s Molly on the Shore and Handel in the Strand
Presented under the patronage of Mr Tim Dillon, Agent General to the United Kingdom, Commissioner to Europe and Israel for the State Government of Victoria, Australia, Confluence offers a rare opportunity to experience chamber music in one of London’s most atmospheric chapel settings.
