HALF/TIME performance at Hope & Anchor

  • Hope & Anchor 207 Upper Street London, England, N1 1RL United Kingdom (map)

HALF/TIME, the punk-rock band led by Māori researcher, musician, and illustrator Wairehu Grant, comes to Hope & Anchor, London in May. Emerging from Grant’s PhD research into the ideological crossovers between te ao Māori and punk culture, HALF/TIME brings together the personal and political, amplifying ancestral echoes of Aotearoa and giving voice to the injustices faced by Indigenous peoples today.

Since becoming a three-piece in 2023, HALF/TIME have opened for bands including Idles, Big Brave and Dream Wife, and released Black Union Jack (The Vault Sessions) to critical acclaim. Their sound spans dystopian industrial hardcore, moanasurf and reclamation balladry.

Support comes from LEAO, a Samoan musical project whose sound blends non-traditional tonalities with a fa’asamoa spirit, creating what has been described as ‘Niu Wave’ and ‘Pacific neo-psychedelia’.
