New Zealand actress Megan Goldsman joins an all-female cast for In His Words, a new queer drama playing a limited five-night run at The Bread & Roses Theatre in Clapham.

Written by Heather Woodhouse and directed by TJ Roderick, the play follows Esther, a young actor who lands the lead in a piece of new theatre – only to become convinced that it was written about her by her ex.

Despite her girlfriend’s objections, Esther insists that taking the role will be an exercise in autonomy and self-discovery. But as rehearsals continue, obsession takes hold and the boundaries between the play, her memories and the present begin to unravel.

Combining intimacy, classic literature, absurdism and movement, In His Words explores perfectionism, queer femininity and the different versions of ourselves that exist in other people’s memories.

Goldsman, a British-New Zealand performer now based in the UK, has previously appeared in Shortland Street and worked with companies including Red Leap Theatre and Auckland Theatre Company. She stars alongside Heather Woodhouse, Riya Rajeev and Madeline Horan.

The production is presented by Woodhouse&Roderick, a theatre collective bringing together queer, neurodiverse, working-class and global-majority creatives.
