Sammy J brings Hero Complex to London and Edinburgh Fringe

Australian comedian, musician, writer and satirist Sammy J brings his award-winning show Hero Complex to the UK this August, with a London date before a full Edinburgh Festival Fringe run.

A sharp, funny and deeply personal comic-book adventure, Hero Complex begins with a moment from Sammy J’s childhood: swapping comics with his school gardener. Decades later, that unlikely exchange has led to a chain of events involving family, crime, memory and a federal policeman searching his attic.

Blending stand-up, storytelling, music and satirical wit, the show has been described as a real-life comic-book adventure that proves truth can be stranger than fiction.

Sammy J is one of Australia’s most distinctive comedy voices. He has performed around the world, released ARIA-nominated comedy albums, created viral political sketches and songs for the ABC, and is known for his work as one half of the acclaimed musical comedy duo Sammy J & Randy.

Hero Complex won Best Comedy at Melbourne Fringe and was nominated for Most Outstanding Comedy at Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

UK audiences can see Sammy J in London at Underbelly Boulevard Soho on 4 August, before he heads to Edinburgh for a Fringe run at Underbelly Bristo Square from 5–16 August.
