New Zealand-born conductor Christopher Clark leads The Jupiter Orchestra at Barts Great Hall this October for an evening of Mozart, Brahms and Haydn in one of London’s most historic interiors.
The concert is the orchestra’s second London performance, following its debut at the Gasholders Building in King’s Cross. Founded by Clark, The Jupiter Orchestra explores the relationship between music and architecture, staging orchestral performances in distinctive spaces and building programmes around the character and acoustics of each setting.
Norwegian violinist Bjørg Pas joins the orchestra for Brahms’s Violin Concerto in D major. The programme also features Mozart’s overture to The Marriage of Figaro and Haydn’s Symphony No. 104 ‘London’. Pas has performed as a soloist with the Oslo Philharmonic and Norwegian Radio Orchestra and is currently studying at London’s Royal Academy of Music.
Clark is Artistic Director of The Jupiter Orchestra and has conducted the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra and Berlin Sinfonietta, as well as working with New Zealand Opera, Orchestra Wellington and Opera North.
Doors open at 6pm, with the concert beginning at 6.30pm.
