Acclaimed New Zealand actress Kerry Fox returns to the London stage this September in a new production of Lucy Kirkwood’s The Children at Lyric Hammersmith Theatre.
Fox stars as Rose alongside Olivier Award-nominated Dame Meera Syal as Hazel and Declan Conlon as Robin in the 10th-anniversary production of Kirkwood’s darkly funny drama, directed by Lyric Artistic Director Rachel O’Riordan.
The play follows retired nuclear scientists Hazel and Robin, who are living on the edge of a radiation exclusion zone following a devastating catastrophe. Their attempts to maintain an ordinary life are disrupted by the unexpected arrival of their former colleague Rose, who brings old memories, buried secrets and a proposition that forces them to confront what their generation owes the next.
Wellington-born Fox first came to international prominence playing New Zealand writer Janet Frame in Jane Campion’s An Angel at My Table, before going on to an acclaimed international career spanning film, television and theatre, including Shallow Grave, Intimacy, Bright Star and The Dressmaker.
