Award-winning Australian jazz harpist, vocalist and composer Tara Minton brings her quintet to Ronnie Scott’s this September to present her new album, The Devil Invites You To Dance.
Written in Mexico City, the new work draws on Aztec mythology and Latin American dance traditions, following a soul’s journey through an underworld of shadows and desire.
London-based since 2011, Minton has built an international reputation for combining virtuosic harp playing with expressive vocals, drawing on jazz, folk and contemporary influences. She has performed with artists and organisations including Björk, Opera North, The Royal Ballet and the Australian World Orchestra.
For the Ronnie Scott’s show, Minton will be joined by Miguel Gorodi on trumpet and flugelhorn, John Williamson on double bass, David Ingamells on drums and Ernesto Marichales on percussion, with special guest vocalists Sara Colman and Clare Wheeler.
Tara Minton Quintet: The Devil Invites You To Dance takes place Upstairs at Ronnie Scott’s on Friday 11 September at 5pm.
