Naomi Kantjuriny and Freda Brady Named Finalists in Prestigious NATSIAA Art Awards
JGM Gallery has announced that artists Naomi Kantjuriny and Freda Brady, both featured in the London gallery’s current exhibition Minyma Ninti Pulka: Wise Women, have been named finalists in one of Australia’s most significant cultural honours — the Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards (NATSIAA).
Established in 1984, the NATSIAA is the longest-running and most prestigious Indigenous art award in Australia. It celebrates the vibrancy and excellence of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art and encourages broader global recognition of First Nations cultures through contemporary practice.
Kantjuriny and Brady’s nomination highlights the power of the Minyma Ninti Pulka exhibition, which showcases the artistic voices and cultural wisdom of Indigenous Australian women.
The finalists’ work will be on display at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) in Darwin from 21 June 2025 to 26 January 2026, with the official awards ceremony taking place on Friday 8 August 2025.
FANZA congratulates Naomi Kantjuriny, Freda Brady and the team at JGM Gallery on this outstanding achievement.
