An exciting new musical by Australian writers Miranda Middleton and Grace Chapple will be staged in Exeter this August, exploring the story behind one of the world’s most famous literary figures.
Paper Stars, presented by British Youth Music Theatre, follows the early life of P.L. Travers, the Australian-born author who would go on to create Mary Poppins.
Inspired by true events, the musical begins with young Lyndon Goff leaving Australia in 1924 to pursue her dream of becoming a writer in London, where she adopts the pen name P.L. Travers.
The show blends whimsical musical theatre with modern pop, tracing a story of creativity, courage, resilience and the imagination that would eventually help bring Mary Poppins to life.
The creative team includes Australian director and writer Miranda Middleton, writer Grace Chapple, who is based between London and Sydney, and Australian composer and lyricist Luke Byrne.
